If you are interested in Dental Implants but have a Dental Phobia, no need to worry we offer Sedation here at South Wilts Implant Centre - please see enclosed Sedation information.
Many people are extremely nervous / phobic of visiting the dentist and will find it difficult to undergo any treatment. For some people, their only option of having any treatment done is with sedation.
Dr Daniela Popovici and Dr Emma O'Hara offers IV sedation to help aid the treatment for more anxious patients.
What is Sedation?
Sedation is given using the drug Midazolam. It is administered by injection.
Under sedation the patient will be fully conscious but will remember little or nothing of the time spent in the chair and will be under no distress during treatment.
The amount of Midazolam given is monitored to sedate the patient for as long as is necessary to carry out the treatment.
Because of the effects sedation has, the patient must pay for their treatment and sign all consent forms prior to their treatment.
Who Can have Sedation?
Almost anyone over the age of 16, subject to checking your medical history and blood pressure.
After Effects
The patient will be fully aware of their surroundings after treatment and although will need to be accompanied, will be able to leave the surgery of their own accord.
The patient will not be allowed to drive, operate machinery or sign important legal documents until 24 hours after treatment.
